In the fight for climate justice, we officially launched the Green Coast, Clean Oceans program—an inclusive initiative led by and for persons with disabilities (PWDs) to protect our marine ecosystem through beach cleanups, mangrove planting, and sustainable conservation efforts.
With the incredible support from our partner Testimony CBO, other stakeholders, KWS Mombasa Marine park and Enterprise Baus Taka Enterprise Baus Taka, we made a meaningful impact in restoring our coastline while championing disability-inclusive environmental action. Special thanks to KWS for granting us access to the beach and to Baus Taka for providing gloves and waste bags, ensuring PWDs were fully equipped and actively engaged in the cleanup efforts.
ELAFA Foundation and TeamCharity001 spent a heartwarming day at Sanajanand Special School in Mtwapa, celebrating love through mentorship, counselling and play.

Josfera Okenyuri, Programs Manager at ELAFA, is a powerful voice for inclusion and environmental action. Living with Cerebral Palsy, she continues to break barriers and inspire change. As an ambassador of the Young Women Leadership Institute and an advocate for Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights, Josfera demonstrates that leadership and resilience go hand in hand.
Here she is captured planting mangrove trees—contributing to climate resilience while showing that persons with disabilities are vital leaders in protecting our environment and shaping a sustainable future.
We are truly humbled by the Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Committee for giving us space at #ASK2025 to run a successful 5-day Plant-Based Treaty campaign. Our booth became a vibrant hub of conversations on climate action, food systems, and public health, and we were honored by the visits of Hon. Shadrach Mutungi, CECM for Youth, Sports and Gender, Taita Taveta County, and Hon. Tairo Maseghe, CECM for Public Works, Housing & Infrastructure, who showed their support for sustainable and inclusive practices. We were further encouraged by the warm reception from stakeholders and the enthusiastic visits from students across different schools.
The Plant-Based Treaty is not just a treaty—it is a movement for the sake of our climate, health, and food security, and together we continue to amplify the voices of marginalized communities, especially persons with disabilities, as we push for a sustainable and inclusive future for all.

Disability inclusion is at the heart of building resilient communities and sustainable environmental solutions. By ensuring that persons with disabilities are actively involved in climate action initiatives such as mangrove restoration and coastal conservation, we recognize their leadership, skills, and unique perspectives.
Inclusive programs create equal opportunities for participation, empower individuals to contribute meaningfully to environmental protection, and demonstrate that climate justice can only be achieved when no one is left behind.
